Everytime I see this movie I ask myself how Anne Rice could have allow such a rape on her books.
Marius is Lestats "Daddy", the actors are bad though most of them aren´t normally. The story isn´t worked out fine and the whole way of descibing the Vampies is just a mess. They fullfill so many clichees, that doesn´t exist in the books. They wanna be cool but they´re not. The whole mask is just chotic and that´s about it. No beauty, no pain, no fallen angels.
What do you think?

She sold the Rights, so she couldn't do anything about it.

mhh that the movie matches the book you will not find very often, especially when the writer has sold the rights for it. But I think, Aahliya was a good choice for Akasha. She has charisma and made it really good to show with her mimic, if she is talking with Lestat or another one. The disrespect in her eyes regarding mortals and so on. I have no idea, which actress could play Akasha too.

I think I didn't like the movie, because I didn't like the book. I just don't like the story of the book.

I loved the book and I don´t like the movie either. And I don´t think that it´s close to the books to make Marius Lestat´s loving Daddy.
But I think it would´t have been a problem like this, if the whole style of the movie wasn´t so bad as is it. Why must the whole world around Vampires be gothic? That´s what I hated the most about the movie. there were all goths and that´s about it.
And Aahliya? Don´t know. She was a singer and not an actress and she didn´t fit Akasha at all. In my opinion there should be someone with more strenght and character. Don´t get me wrong: I think Aahliya was a beautiful woman with an excellent figure, but that´s not enough to play the oldest and most powerfull Vampire in the world. The actress who was playing Maharet was more in character as Aahliya.
